This week on the show, it’s all about lager. At first you might think we’re referring simply to light American macro lagers, but no! Turns out, there’s a wonderfully diverse selection of American lagers out there, ranging from classic, clean, crisp, and refreshing lawnmower lager to dark, rich, and flavorful German Dunkels and everything in between (even for you hop heads out there).

Editor’s note: this last paragraph will just remain as-is for future posts until this lockdown is over.

We hope you’re safe. We know this sucks right now. We miss our friends and family, socializing, and even going for a run without having to wear a mask, but this is temporary and staying at home as much as possible, while also keeping our distance from others in public, is something we must all do. That being said, we live in a great time in history where we have a robust internet that allows us all to stay in contact, see each other’s faces, and even get together once a week for a virtual happy hour.

We’ll be recording episodes once a week from here out, which is actually pretty cool for those who normally can’t make it to our typical monthly recording sessions. We’ll be having guests on the show, trying new beers, and continuing to keep doing our thing the best we can. Thanks for sticking with us. We’ll get through this.

Season 4, Episode 38 – This week, we’re in Davis, California hanging out at Sudwerk Brewing Co.

This week, we’re visiting one of our new favorite breweries, Sudwerk Brewing Co. out of Davis, California. While visiting the Sacramento area for the California Craft Beer Summit, we realized that we were about 20 minutes away from Sudwerk. We’d be stupid to not swing by the brewery and check it out, right?

Sudwerk’s head brewer, Tom Stull, was kind enough to take some time out of his day to sit down with us, drink some beers, and talk about what it’s like brewing for a brewery that primarily brews lagers. We also learned a bit about the history of Sudwerk and what their plans are for the future.

Needless to say, keep a look out for their beers. Like we always talk about on the show, it’s really easy to overlook beers that are always on the shelf when you’re always hunting for the next whale. Sudwerk brews some of the best beer in California. Check ’em out!
