[S4/E29] Only Kolsch Can Save Us, Now…

Season 4, Episode 29 – Well, they can’t all be winners…This week, beers from The Libertine Brewing Company.

You know, these things happen. It’s perfectly normally. I mean, it’s unrealistic to think otherwise. Nobody’s perfect. IT’S OKAY. The beers on this week’s episode come to us by way of our good friend Robert French, and they’re from none other than The Libertine Brewing Company out of San Luis Obispo, California.

If you’re confused about what exactly is happening with this week’s episode, allow us to clear it up for you. The Libertine Brewing Company makes great beer, for the most part. The Libertine Pub is a well know spot in Morro Bay, California, known not only for their tasty house beers, but also for their epic selection of craft beer. It’s a really great spot to visit if you’re ever in the area.

The Libertine Brewing Company opened as a proper 9000 square foot brewing facility and restaurant in 2012. They specialize in wild ales and even have a coolship where the beers are exposed to the open air overnight to allow wild yeast and bacteria to inoculate the freshly-brewed wort. Their beers are pretty damn good, for the most part anyway, but the beers on this week’s episode are, well, not what we had hoped they’d be.

Just so we’re all on the same page here, this episode isn’t in any way meant to be disrespectful to The Libertine Brewing Company or anyone else, for that matter. We were excited to try these beers, but unfortunately, they all had issues that really turned us off. We are still big fans of what The Libertine Brewing Company is doing, and can only hope these beers were just a few bad apples in the bunch.

We wrap up the show with a refreshing, palate-cleansing beer from Boulevard Brewing Co, their Americanized kolsch called, well, American Kolsch. It’s downright delicious, especially in this crazy-hot Southern California summer weather (climate change is real—it’s really, really hot here).

BREW THE SHIT OUT OF IT.
